What is Elliott Wave analysis?

A map of crowd behavior drawn on the price chart

Elliott Wave analysis is a method of reading price charts that says markets move in repeating patterns: five waves in the direction of the main trend, followed by three corrective waves. Ralph Nelson Elliott described it in the 1930s. Traders combine the pattern with Fibonacci ratios to estimate where a move may end and which price would prove the count wrong.

Every count on this site names an invalidation level, because a wave count is a probability, not a promise.

How Smart Wave Analysis works

Smart Wave Analysis is a free research site for traders who use, or want to learn, the Elliott Wave Principle. We cover more than 90 markets across six groups: crypto, forex, stocks, ETFs, commodities and indices. Every market has its own page with a live chart, the key facts that move it, how its waves tend to behave and, when our analysts publish one, a dated wave count with a clear invalidation level.

We write in plain English for an international audience. You do not need a finance degree to follow our pages. If a term is new to you, our Elliott Wave glossary explains it in one or two sentences.

What makes a useful wave count

Many websites post wave labels on a chart and stop there. A count is only useful if it tells you three things: what the market is likely to do next, where that view is wrong, and what you would do about it. That is why every count on this site shows a primary count, an invalidation level and Fibonacci targets, and why we keep a public track record of past calls, right or wrong.

Common questions about Smart Wave Analysis

What is Elliott Wave analysis?

It is a method of reading price charts based on the idea that markets move in repeating patterns: five waves with the trend and three waves against it. Ralph Nelson Elliott described it in 1938.

Is Smart Wave Analysis free?

Yes. Market pages, guides, calculators and the track record are free. Some pages link to optional paid forecasts from a partner service, which are clearly marked.

Which markets do you cover?

More than 90 markets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, EUR/USD, gold, crude oil, the S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, Apple, Nvidia and sector ETFs such as SPY and XLE.

How accurate is Elliott Wave analysis?

No method is always right. Elliott Wave gives probabilities, not certainties. That is why each count has an invalidation level, the price where we accept the view is wrong.

Do I need to pay to learn Elliott Wave?

No. Our Learn section covers the rules, patterns and Fibonacci tools for free, from beginner to advanced level.
