Pivot Point Calculator

Calculate classic floor trader pivot points, with three support and three resistance levels, from the previous period's high, low and close.

How pivot points are calculated

  • Pivot (P) = (high + low + close) ÷ 3.
  • R1 = 2P minus low; S1 = 2P minus high.
  • R2 = P + (high minus low); S2 = P minus (high minus low).
  • R3 = high + 2 × (P minus low); S3 = low minus 2 × (high minus P).

Worked example

Yesterday’s high was 1.0920, low 1.0840 and close 1.0900. P = 1.0887. R1 = 1.0933 and S1 = 1.0853.

Pivots and Elliott Wave

Pivots are useful for intraday timing. When a pivot level lines up with a Fibonacci level from your wave count, the area gains weight.
